Import to Amazon EC2 Cloud

This page explains how to export the VMware Espresso Logic Appliance to the Amazon EC2 Cloud for remote hosting.

Download the Amazon aws ec2 command line interpreter tools  (also called the CLI tools)

Download and install the AWS Command Line Interface

Configure the AWS Command Line Interface


Create your credentials file at ~/.aws/credentials (C:\Users\USER_NAME\.aws\credentials for Windows users)and save the following lines after replacing the underlined values with your own.


export AWS_CONFIG_FILE=~/.aws/credentials


~/.aws/credentials

[default]

output = json

region = us-east-1

aws_access_key_id = XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

aws_secret_access_key = ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Unzip / untar downloaded Espresso Logic appliance

tar -xvf espresso-1236.ova


Description:

ec2-import-instance -t instance_type [-g group] -f file_format -a architecture [-p platform_name] -b s3_bucket_name [-o owner] -w secret_key [-s volume_size ] [-z availability_zone]


Example:

ec2-import-instance export-i-fh6r3kdo-disk-1.vmdk -t m3.medium -g vmdk-us-east-1 -f VMDK -a x86_64 -p Linux  -b espressologic-vmdktmp-us-east-1 -z us-east-1d --region us-east-1 -s 20 -o XXXX -w ZZZZ


Example: (repeat every 5 mins until complete (about 45 mins)

ec2-describe-conversion-tasks --region us-east-1
